Lots of great new pictures of John and Shana's wedding thanks to Kelly at True Expression Photographer.  She was the photographer and really has a great eye for fun, artistic photos.  You can check out her work at www.trueexpressionphoto.com.  Thanks again Kelly!

Here are the Bride and Groom.  Shana was such a beautiful bride.  Hollywood Glam fit her to a tee.

One of the details of the Old Hollywood Glamour theme was that each table had a framed portrait of an old hollywood star.  A very fun idea and a creative way to assign seating.  This was the Paul Newman table.

Audrey Hepburn table...

Clark Gable table...

Had such a good time working on this one.  Thanks again John and Shana for letting me be a part of your special day.  Best wishes for many years of happiness!

Welcome!

Welcome to the new blog.  I will be posting pictures of events as they come, but til then you can go to my Photo Gallery and look through photos of work I have done in the past.

I have a beautiful wedding coming up this weekend.  The theme is Old Hollywood Glamour.  I hope to get some pictures of that up for you next week.  In the meantime, Georgia State Florist Association recently had their Annual Convention.  It was in Macon, Georgia this year.  We had a great time.  I participated in a competition that they have called the Burton Cup.  It's an interpretive design competition.  They give you a category and you come up with your interpretation.  This year's theme was "The Empty Chair."  Back in the day this was a sympathy piece used for funerals.  For my interpretation I went very natural.

I made the chair out of river cane, the cushion of the seat was covered with green button mums, and on the back of the chair it has some weaving with teepee.  The tiered base I constructed out of extra thick foam board and covered the edges with pieces of the river cane that I cut and adhered all the way around.  The background is burlap draped from a bamboo base.

It was a really great experience though.  This was my first year competing in this particular competition.  A little bit stressful.  We had three hours to complete our piece.

Here's a picture of me stressing out, trying to get it all done.

And this is a picture of the trophy that I came home with.  I somehow managed to win first place.  I was very surprised.  This was on last night. We have a big ball, and everyone dresses up and awards are given and we eat and people dance.  It is lot's of fun.  The best part of the whole event are of course the flowers.  It's a lot of flowers even for a florist.  They are everywhere.  Too many to count. I love it.
